And here we go. Yay. I was actually looking at this page making sure it was ready to be uploaded, and decided to rework the dialog a little bit. I guess this is why I don’t always have luck with having people spellcheck my stuff. ah well.
Oddly, Nicoli is perhaps one of the harder characters for me to draw. On top of his head, being so tall, and his lankness he also has some odd proportions that I’m not sure I always get across right. Things like his arms being slightly to long. Williams redesign is, I think, much more successful, and a lot easier to draw.

Nice cameo. And I sense a LAMPSHADE!
I know the art is technically better, and I hate to dis on you with the very first comment, but I think I liked the old art better, for some reason, at least when it comes to Nicoli.
Don’t get me wrong, its definitely better, I just think you captured Nicoli’s character better with the art style the first time around, is all.
triplecomment? I just wanted to say one more thing.
I think the green glowyness doesn’t quite fit with the Shade idea, I honestly like a ghostly gray glowyness better. The green seems too… radioactive.
Now that I’ve finished hating on your work, I’m off. That’s enough from me
So kill yourself!
(Also – don’t say things like that!
This entire chapter has already been drawn! The last thing we need is for it to be redrawn. >,> )
Nicoli’s character has been changed, maybe, the drawing reflects that, save the old art though, it will good filler for the graphic novel when you get 5 or 12 chapters?
liked the luna story as a story in the new world, as for Nicoli’s appearance, it has been written that the appearance of and elder can change for no reason, april 15, 2011
that comment about an elder’ apperance changing for no known reason was foreshawdowing right?
Luna is a puppet!
I actually think Niccoli looks good. After all we haven’t seen how he looks when acting crazy yet. The jacket looks nice.
I agree that you can do without the face paint. Niccoli doesn’t need to look crazy if he acts that way, actions speaking louder. But bullhorns do speak louder than action . . .
Nice touch with little Luna looking offended. And Tix is Amanda/William? Gasp Amanda has been Windy the whole time!
The green glowing hair is a neat effect. I am guessing that is a bit of the elder power as opposed to the shadow power.
And awesome idea to have a puppet show to lead in. Honestly I half expected him to rain down fury on an architechture critic again.
And, Yeah it started! So much good news, George RR Martin is finally done with his new book too.
Good days, good days.
I like the new style, can’t really decide which one I like more as of yet though. I think that I will need to see more of this one to make that decision.
I have to reserve more comments until I see a more pages.
All things though, I am really glad to see this comic up and running again
One last thing, though not about the comic directly: glanced at the bottom of the page and noticed the copyright is out of date, is this intentional?
Artwork is awesome but personally thought Nicoli looked better pale. Kinda looks like he’s been getting a tan.
I was tempted to open with the critic being spell bombed again. but hey, I want a different spin on things.
as for Williams hair, it was originally supposed to be more muted. but when I went in with the bright green I just liked the ascetic to much.
as for Nicoli, bear in mind some of these I drew a while ago, and not necessarily in chronological order. so there is some inconsistency, and I do agree with Nicoli being to dark early on, a fact I adjusted when it made sense and could be fluffed off as “lighting changes” making him to light with the much to dark backgrounds of the early pages made him glow a bit to much.
Nicoli in general is a bit hard to draw. more so then other characters and odd proportions. took a while to get the feel of him right. unfortunately I find it all to easy for his head to look to bulbous, hell on the cover he could pass for megamind’s not blue cousin.
… to dark backgrounds that are not to dark after adding the texture to them…
<.<
I see, so for all intents and purposes until this Spider webs is over and your website is a reanimated corpse. I know I shouldn’t say anything but the bible did mention something about mending new cloth with old thread, or was that old cloth with new thread.
You mean, new wine in old skins?
If a corpse is reanimated it is no longer a a corpse. Its more like the Alive-Again from pushing daisies. Thank you pie man, but never touch this again.
Alright, directly comparing the art, this is an improvement, even if I’m not quite feeling. As you’ve said, it improved as you worked on it, so I’ll hold off any further judgment until I’ve seen the rest of the chapter.
Whatever you do, just don’t redraw it!
Is that a link between New World and Spiderwebs that I see? :O
Spelling err. It’s than, not then.
Also, enjoyed your older art better. You’re trying too hard.
lol: His old art was a great deal more work then this stuff. Hehe
The plot and characters are what I waited for. The art is more than good enough for me to enjoy them.
just to point out the obvious. this chapter is the result of a completely new work-flow. where I would ink days after drawing. and in some cases even draw pages in a none linear order due to re-wrights.
lets put it this way, I’m *still* getting the actual ideal work flow down. so needless to say there may be some issues with the art here and there. eventually you just have to say screw it, and release something. or else it’ll never start.
besides, I always have the “trying to hard” feel to the art with early pages after a break, usually because I am.
until I fall into a proper relaxed rhythm.
Yay for update
Looks great so far! So glad to see you guys back :3 There’s some dithering in this one though… mainly noticeable around both of their hair. Maybe try fiddling with the compression settings? Absolutely adore the backgrounds – the textured look is amazing.
