As for "Selena's Daughters" all being TF/TG that might be the case. Great magic often came with sacrifices, perhaps to gain the apparently significant boons of being a moonsprite one had to sacrifeice their male gender and former life for the sake of equivalence. SAelena knew what would happen as a result of the infusion and had a book ready to conjure. I doubt this is common practice, but for a long lived being like Selena it is likely far from unprecedented.
