So Selena never has “children” who are female to start with, or was this book custom made for Luna?
I think the book is either custom made for Luke, or it has a spell on it where the words are an illusion and Selena is really good at guessing Luke’s reaction, because she is in the room, talking to look through the book.

It’s up in the air what’s really going on here. I’ll say that the book’s alive. Like Tomie from Zerba Girl. Only this book doesn’t want Luna to know that little facttiod.
I am of the opinion that this book is not alive but it is Selena messing with our dear changling.
As for “Selena’s Daughters” all being TF/TG that might be the case. Great magic often came with sacrifices, perhaps to gain the apparently significant boons of being a moonsprite one had to sacrifeice their male gender and former life for the sake of equivalence. SAelena knew what would happen as a result of the infusion and had a book ready to conjure.
I doubt this is common practice, but for a long lived being like Selena it is likely far from unprecedented.
I’d guess she’s simply done this so many times… i mean, there are other options, but still…
